Arunachalee girls get berth in Indian Women League

Itanagar: Two girls from Arunachal Pradesh are all set to play in Indian Women League (IWL), the highest league of women’s football in the country.

Techi Askung and Achom Degio have been signed by Maharashtra based I-League club Kenkre FC for the upcoming Indian Women’s League being organised by All India Football Federation.

Nabam Kamyi was the first girl from the state to play in IWL last year representing FC Kohlapur City. Even she was part of FC Kohlapur City this year also but due to health problem she had to rule out her participation.

All the three girls were product of Capital Complex FC (CCFC) based in Itanagar.

“It is a historical feat”, CCFC chairman Kipa Takum said while while congratulating the players.

“It is always wonderful to see young girls who started their playing career under our club have been achieving highest milestone in the women’s football. Our head coach and managing staff worked so tirelessly to groom these kids to play in the highest league of the country. We are trying our level best to give back to the game and society by nurturing young talents” he added.

Arunachal Pradesh Football Academy (APFA) Honorary Secretary Kipa Ajay also congratulated the girls.
