ASEBSC Storm into Semi-Finals of Bordoloi Trophy at Nehru stadium

GUWAHATI: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEBSC) stormed into the semi-final of the Bordoloi Trophy beating Assam Regimental Centre 4-1 in group ‘B’ match held at the Nehru stadium here today.

In another match, held at Sonapur, Green Valley FC kept their hope alive to earn a semi-final berth beating Navajyoti club 4-0.

Assam Regimental Centre already qualified for the semi-final and ASEBSC needed just a draw in this game to confirm their position in the last four stages. However, the win helped them to finish the group stage staying at the top of the points table. ASEBSC collected 7 points from their three machetes while Assam Regimental Centre, finished second in the group, collected six points from their three outings.

Local outfit dominated the match from the very beginning. Overcast sky and rain although made the ground slippery but ASEBSC managed to play a very attacking game throughout the 90 minutes. The side needed just 8 minutes to open the account through Dhabesh Daimary. Vishal Sooner made it 2-0 in the 40th minutes. On the other hand, Akrang Narzary scored the last two goals for ASEBSC in the 56 and 89 minutes respectively. Venlalpeka returned one for ARC in the 49th minutes.

Meanwhile, in a group, ‘A’ match FC Green Valley registered their first victory thrashing Navajyoti club 4-0. Joseph and Victor scored one goal each to gave Green Valley 2-0 lead in the first half. Later Joseph scored another one in 64th minutes and Michael hammered the last nail in the coffin during injury time.
