GUWAHATI: Ashis Adhikari of Odisha Won the '1st Debendra Nath Sarma Memorial All India Open Children Chess Championship 2020' which was concluded today. Ashis on way to bag the title collected full 9 points in 9 rounds competition. Alekhya Mukhopadhyay of West Bengal bagged the 2nd place while Manthan Kashyap Datta of Guwahati finished 3rd.

The competition was held online in swiss league format with blitz time control and was played in online gaming platform chess.com. The tournament was conducted under the supervision of International Arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj. Earlier the meet was inaugurated by International Master and former coach of India Atanu Lahiri. The top 12 position holders were awarded scholarships worth Rs. 1,50,000 and merit certificate.

The award winners: Ashis Adhikari (champion), Alekhya Mukhopadhyay (2nd), Manthan Kashyap Datta (3rd), Arkya Chatterjee (4th), Shreya Hipparagi (5th), Arjit Prasad (6th), Abdul Kalam A (7th), Rayhan Zaman (8th), Arshiya Das (9th), Yati Agarwal 10th), Uddipan Roy (11th) and Manraj Singh (12th).
