GUWAHATI: Assam displaying an all round performance beat Railways by 62 runs in the Vijay Hazare Cricket held at Ranchi today. Opener Rishav Das and Riyan Parag scored half centuries and helped Assam to post 267-8. Later the bowlers, lead by Pritam Das, restricted Railways to 205.

Assam today sent Rishav Das and Sarupam Purkayastha to open the innings after they won the toss and elected to bat. The first wicket partnership created a Solid foundation adding 73 runs in 13.3 overs. Although Sarupam got out scoring 23 but Rishav played a good knock. The batsman scored 71 runs facing 66 balls and there were 14 hits to the fence. Riyan also scored a half century playing a very composed knock. He faced 67 balls to score 66 and there were four boundaries in his innings.

In reply Railways lost wicket on regular interval except the third wicket partnership between Vivek Singh (41) and Mohammad Saif (which produced 94 runs. Pacer Pritam Das bagged 3-38 while Sarupam Purkayastha, Riyan Parag and Mukhtar Hussain picked up 2 wickets each.
