GUWAHATI: Assam narrowly lost to Uttarakhand in their opening game in Women Senior One Day cricket at Rajkot today. The fate of the game was decided on 49.4 overs and Assam lost the tie by four wickets.

Invited to bat, Assam rode on a half century knock from captain Monikha Das (64), scored 211 in 48.5 overs. Monikha took 53 balls to score 64 runs with the help of 10 boundaries. Rekharani Bora (32), Sapna Choudhury (25) and Gayatri Gurung (23) were the other major contributors.

Uttarakhand might not be able to reach the target unless opener Jyoti Giri and A N Tomar played two good knocks for their team. Jyoti (97) narrowly missed century while Tomar contributed 69 runs on the board. Once Rashmi Dey broke the 142 runs second wicket partnership removing Tomar, Assam came back into the game strongly. Uttarakhand lost their last four wickets adding only 19 runs on the board.

After bat Monikha showed good performance with ball also and bagged 3-38.
