Assam Cricket Association (ACA) to donate Rs 50 lakh to fight COVID-19

GUWAHATI: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on Monday announced to donate Rs 50 lakh in order to support Government of Assam to combat COVID-19.

In a joint statement the president and the secretary of the ACA Ramen Dutta and Devajit Saikia said: “During this crisis period ACA want to extend its support to the State Government. We will donate Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and another Rs 25 lakh to Assam Arogya Nodhi.”

It may be mentioned here that earlier Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the parent body of Indian cricket, donated Rs 51 crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) to combat COVID-19 and protect Indian citizens.

Meanwhile the president of the ACA Romen Dutta today announced that there would be no deduction of pay and salaries of the employees of the association for the month of March although the office is completely paralyzed due to lockdown. At present there are 71 permanent and contractual employees in ACA.

Dutta also added: “ACA has taken necessary measures to provide rations and other requirements to the technical and ground staffs as well as security personnel who are accommodated at the ACA stadium, Barsapara because of ongoing situation.
