Assam Cricket Association Plans Quality Preparation For State Squads

GUWAHATI: Assam Cricket Association has taken a series of steps to ensure that State cricketers get enough times and opportunities to prepare themselves for the forthcoming season. The list of the plans included introduction of a Regional tournament, play warm up matches with a top club team from Bangladesh, exposure trip etc.

Assam Cricket Association also decided to revive their own cricket academy and provide accreditations to the different cricket academies, spread across the State, scrutinizing the various aspects like infrastructure, coaching staffs and other facilities.

The ACA also took note of the floods in the State and has decided to contribute Rs 5 lakh towards the Chief Minsiter’s Flood Relief Fund.

Disclosing the news in a media conference the president of the Assam Cricket Association Romen Dutta said, “We want to provide best of the best facilities to our players so that they can prepare themselves in a best possible way for the forthcoming season. Keeping it in mind Assam Cricket Association has decided to introduce a Regional Cricket Tournament where Assam and teams from the other parts of the North East will participate. The championship will kick off on August 22. We have also invited a club team from Bangladesh-named Surjo Tarun Cricket Club-to play five matches with our probables. ACA stadium will host all five matches- one 2-day match, three 50-over games and one T20- from August 23.”

He also said that the outfit is one of the top team from Bangladesh and studded with 4-5 international players. The media briefing was also attended by the secretary Devajit Saikia, Joint secretary Kamakhya Saikia and Vice President Parikshit Dutta. Sharing information on revival of cricket academy secretary Devajit Saikia said, “The academy is rechristened to State Cricket Academy (Earlier known as Assam Cricket Academy) and will start function from July 22.”

He also added: “Assam Cricket Association has planned to bring all the coaching centre of the State under one umbrella so that they can train their own cricketers following the similar coaching manual which is followed by the state cricket academy. We will introduce accreditation system for all the coaching centers and it will be based on gradation which will be given after scrutinizing different aspects like infrastructure, coaching staffs etc.

All the coaching centers of the state will get the opportunity to apply within July 31 to enroll their name for the accreditation process. Assam Cricket Association will also impart courses for cricket coaches of the various cricket coaching centers of the state and they will issue certificate like A-level, B-level as done by the NCA in the National level.

Meanwhile, the Assam Cricket Association today announced the list of coaches and support staffs for various age group state teams. The name of the coaches are: U-23: Deepak Joon (Head Coach), Dhiraj Goswami (Coach). U-19: Souvik Das (coach). U-16: Subhrajit Saikia (Head Coach), Abhijit Das and Sujay Tarafdar (Coach), Women (Senior): Rajib Rajbangshi (Head Coach), Tilak Das (Coach). U-23 (women): Debajyoti Bora (Head coach), RK Yadav (Coach), U-19 (Women): Saranya RS (Head coach), RB Inderjit (Coach)
