Assam face another defeat in 67th Santosh Trophy

GUWAHATI: Assam faced another defeat in the 67th Santosh Trophy cluster III at Kokrajhar on Sunday as they were outplayed by Nagaland 3-1.

Nagaland dominated the first half at SAI stadium under floodlights and netted twice by Hailuibe Irangue in the 25th and 45th minutes. They put another one just after the lemon break, this time through Pusurnepe. The hosts finally scored one cosolation goal in the 75th minute through Jigyas Deka.

With this result Nagaland took the lead in the points table with third win. Assam will take on Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

In other matches of the day, Uttar Pradesh beat Tamil Nadu 2-1, Goa beat Arunachal Pradesh 2-1.
