Assam Fencing Association felicitates Th Kabita Devi

GUWAHATI: Assam Fencing Association (AFA) today felicitated Th Kabita Devi for her medal-winning performance in the recently concluded SAF Games in Nepal. Kabita won two gold medals in the competition.

The felicitation function was held at the AOA conference hall and it was attended by the president of the Assam Olympic Association Lakhya Konwar and the president of the Assam Fencing Association Durga Das Boro. In a brief speech Lakhya Konwar said that after the 2016 Games, which was held in Guwahati and Shillong, the sports scenario in Assam has started to change. Now there are many players in different disciplines who have already established themselves as the future star of the country. “I am optimistic that Assam will be able to produce more stars in the coming days because Government is taking initiative to promote sports in the state and that too in the best possible way,” said Konwar.

Konwar, who is also the Member Secretary of the SLAC, said that process is on and Kabita will get a government job very soon. It may be mentioned here that Kabita recently appealed to the State Government for a job.
