Assam finish with 4 medals including 2 Gold in 22nd Junior National Sepak Takraw Championship

GUWAHATI: Assam finished with two gold and two bronze medals in the 22nd Junior National Sepak Takraw Championship which came to an end at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium here today. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi was the chief guest in the closing function.
Assam won both the gold medals in regu and team events in the girl's category. In the regu event, Assam defeated Nagaland 2-0 in the final on Monday. Later Assam confirmed second gold medal today defeating Andhra Pradesh in doubles category by an identical margin. Assam girls team also won a bronze medal in the team events. The other medal, which is bronze, came in Boys team event.
Apart from Mukhi the closing function was also attended by Principal Secretary of Assam Government Hemanta Narzary, Secretary General of Sepak Takraw Federation of India Yogendra Singh Dahiya, the Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Pabitram Khound, former international footballer Gilbertson Sangma, Vice President of the Assam Sepak Takraw Association Rajiv Prakash Baruah and Secretary Bishnuram Nunisha respectively.
Complete results: Boys Team event-Delhi (gold), Bihar (Silver), Assam and Mizoram (bronze). Girls team event: Nagaland (gold), Odisha (silver), Assam and Uttar Pradesh (bronze). Boys Regu event: Delhi (gold), Bihar (silver), AP and Mizoram (bronze). Girls Regu event: Assam (gold), Nagaland (silver), Odisha and Goa (bronze). Boys Doubles event: Kerala (gold), Rajasthan (silver), Telangana and Odisha (bronze). Girls Doubles event: Assam (gold), AP (Silver), Haryana and Rajasthan (bronze).
