However, the game has a good future as it is already been included in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“As the first step for the promotion of the sport, we have decided to display roller skating events in some of the areas of the city on World Skate Board Day and a few top skaters from the North-east would display their skill in it. Later, a function would be held at the newly-constructed skating rink at NFRSA stadium, Maligaon,” Sarmah added.

It may be mentioned here that NFRSA recently constructed a 11,000 sq ft skating rink at the NFRSA stadium and very soon a MoU would be signed between NFRSA and Assam Roller Skating Association under which both the organizations would help of each other to promote the sport in Assam. Sarmah also added that during the forthcoming summer vacations, the association would organize a few camps in the different parts of the State to promote the sport.
