GUWAHATI: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club moved one step further to retain the GSA Super Division Soccer League title with a victory over FC Green Valley in the Championship round match at the Nehru stadium here today. The fate of the match was decided by a solitary goal.
The match was well contested and FC Green Valley too created equal opportunities to score but the luck was not with them.
After the barren first half, ASEBSC took the lead in the 55 minutes through Jwmbla Brahma. They could easily increase the margin if another shot from Jwmbla didn’t hit the bar.
Green Valley maintained good pressure on the opponent defence throughout the game and came close to score on several occasion. Micheal Lucky Kelechukwa almost scored at the fag end of the game but his shot had gone out hitting the left post. With this win ASEBSC collected 19 points from eight games and they are now at the top of the points table. Tomorrow’s match: Navajyoti Club vs Sunrise AC.
