GUWAHATI: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEBSC) came from behind to register victory over Maharana Athletic Club in the GSA Super Division Soccer league match held at the Nehru Stadium here today. The defending champion, who were trailing by a single goal in the first half, won the tie by 3-1.
Maharana made good start in the game and stunned everyone with a magnificent goal from Dhiraj Rajbongshi. The match was only 11 minutes old when Dhiraj put his side ahead and they were successful to hold the lead in the first half.
ASEBSC showed lot of urgency in the second half but still they had to wait till the 73rd minutes to get the equalizer. The goal was the result of penalty which was awarded to ASEBSC after one of their player was fouled by opponent defender inside the box. Akrang Narzary didn’t make any mistake to convert the spot kick into goal. Later they pumped in two more goals in a gap of two minutes. Vishal Sooner put ASEBSC ahead in the 78th minutes and Akrang once again scored in the 80th minutes to make the score line 3-1.
