Assam suffer innings defeat against Jharkhand in Ranji Trophy

GUWAHATI: Assam suffered huge an innings and 67 runs defeat against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy tie at Ranchi today. It was the first defeat for Assam in the competition.
Visitors started their second innings with a deficit of 253 runs. Pitch was assisting the spinners but not so heavily. Still the batsmen of visiting side failed to apply themselves resulting quick end of the innings. The entire innings didn’t last two sessions.
Kunal Saikia (48) was the top scorer while Pallav Kumar Das (32) was the other major contributor. Gokul (27) and Riyan (26) although got start but failed to take advantage of it. Among the bowlers of Jharkhand Nadeem and Utkarsh bagged four wickets each.
Earlier Jharkhand, started their day’s proceeding from their overnight score 397-8, declared their first innings 415-9. Roshan Alam took the lone wicket which fell this morning.
