Assam to face Punjab in Santosh Trophy

GUWAHATI: Assam will start their campaign in the final round of Santosh Trophy with the match against host Punjab in Ludhiana on April 9.

The All India Football Federation today released the schedule of the final round which will kick off on April 8 in Ludhiana. Although the final round of the championship was supposed to be held in Delhi but later Federation shifted the venue to Ludhiana. Guru Nanak Stadium will be the venue of all final round matches including two semi finals and final.

Assam, qualified from the North East leg, are placed in group ‘B’ along with Punjab, Maharashtra, Sikkim and Karnataka. Apart from Assam, Sikkim and Meghalaya are the other two teams from the North East which will participate in the final round. Both the semifinals would be held on April 19 while the final is slated for April 21.

Schedule of Assam: April 9: Assam vs Punjab. April 11: Assam vs Maharashtra. April 13: Assam vs Sikkim. April 15: Assam vs Karnataka.

Schedule of Meghalaya: April 8: Meghalaya vs Delhi. April 10: Meghalaya vs Odisha. April 14: Meghalaya vs Services. April 16: Meghalaya vs Goa.
