Assam Volleyball Association (AVA) Executive Meeting Held at Goalpara

Goalpara: The first executive meeting of the Assam Volleyball Association (AVA) was held at DN Sinha stadium in Goalpara on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by its newly elected president and superintendent of Goalpara district police, SB Sarma. All the 41 executives were present in the meeting.

Prior to the meeting, a press meet was addressed by the office bearers of the new committee.

‘We have fixed the schedule of the state level championship. According to the fixture, the Inter district senior tournament will be held at Boko, Kamrup district from December 15 to 17.

Same way, the junior tournament will be arranged at Tezpur from December 20 to 22.

The sub junior championship has been fixed at Nagaon, date of which is yet to be fixed. The mini tournament will be held at Nalbari district from December 27 to 28, informed Dr. CP Saikia, secretary AVA.

Later, SB Sarma informed the press, ‘We have discussed today how to better our performance in national level. The infrastructure and skill development issues were also in the discussion.’

Meanwhile, Asanul Ahmed, volleyball secretary of the Goalpara District Sports Association (GDSA) informed, ‘the Gorima Nath memorial inter club volleyball competition arranged every year by the GDSA will be held on December 10 at the DN Sinha stadium.’

Among other AVA officials, Pradip Kr. Hazarika, working president and Mukut Gogoi, treasurer attended the meeting. Besides, advocate Jiten Das, president and Ratna Das, secretary of GDSA were also present in the meeting.
