Badousa Cup Soccer Competition begins on Sept 9 at Majuli

GUWAHATI: Badousa Cup Soccer competition will kick off at Majuli and Sadiya on September 9. The inaugural function will be held at Majuli and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the meet.

Addressing a media gathering the president of the Badousa Sports Club Arunjyoti Moran today said that the competition will be held in seven different venues-Majuli, Dumduma, Tinsukia, Sadiya, Margherita, Digboi and Duliajan.

This time the organizer has invited a few clubs from abroad which included Saif Sporting club, Bangladesh and Sachal Youth Club, Nepal. Top teams from the state like Oil India Limited, Assam Rifles and Assam Police, ISL outfit Jamshedpur FC, last year champion Gorkha Training Centre will also be the part of the 22-team competition.

The champion team will receive Rs one lakh while the cash award for the runners up team is Rs 50,000.

The media briefing was also attended by the secretary of the Assam Football Association Ankur Dutta.
