Bornali Borah Shines At Commonwealth Weightlifting Competition Held At Samoa

GAURISAGAR: Bornali Borah, a resident of Dikhowmukh Raghubari village on the outskirt of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district and player of Sivasagar District Weight lifting Association has brought laurel to her home place Dikhowmukh as well as Sivasagar district by winning gold medal in Commonwealth weightlifting competition held at Samoa. During schooling time Bornali is under the guidance and care of physical instructor of Dikhowmukh HS school, Sarat Mohan Neog and Gauranga Borah. By dint of her perseverance and dedication she enrolled Golaghat SAI academy as a representative from Sivasagar District Weightlifting Association and later on she went through 3 months weight lifting training at Patiwaala, Punjab. She represented in the mega event on behalf of India team under 45 Kg (junior) group . Despite limited opportunities as well as many obstacles on the threshold of her training period she clinched national record in Khelo India. Various organizations and individuals have hurled their congratulations to her achievement. In the event Rekhamoni Gogoi (40 Kg group) of Dhemaji got bronze medal.
