Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Appeals all to Adopt Sports

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that Khelo India Youth Games is not just as a sports programme but also a mission. It is a mission to make sports a priority in the lives of common people of India.

Sonowal inaugurated the 3rd Khelo India Games at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium here today. Addressing the gathering Chief Minister said that every young and old must adopt sports as a part of their lives because sports not only enhance teamwork but also bring a spirit of openness and empower everybody to accept others.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi who often says, “Jo Khele, Wo Khile, Sonowal said that under his visionary leadership, the Union Government launched “Khelo India” to create an eco-system to identify and nurture the sports talents and fuel their passion for excellence.

Union Minister of State for Youth affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju while speaking on the occasion said that he is confident that the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games would be highly competitive.

He hailed Sonowal and government of Assam for presenting a platform for organising best ever Khelo India Youth Games. Rijiju felt that the Khelo India Youth Games would help the country of being in the top 10 position in the Olympic within next four years.

Sports Minister also assured all possible helps to the State government make Guwahati as the sports capital of India.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna gave the welcome address.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley, Chief Executive Officer BTC Hagrama Mohilary, Office bearers of Indian Olympic Association and Assam Olympic Association were also present in the inaugural function.
