City to host 65th Bordoloi Trophy Semi-Finals today

GUWAHATI: The two semi finals of the 65th Bordoloi Trophy soccer championship will be held at the Nehru stadium here tomorrow. Mohammedan Sporting will take on BSF, Jalandhar in the first semi final which will kick off at 3 pm. The second semi final will be held between OILFC and TRAU, Manipur and the game will be held under flood light from 5pm.

Altogether 8 teams participated in this edition of the championship. Mohammedan Sporting and TRAU from Manipur, who were in group ‘B’, qualified for the semi finals from Mukalmuwa. On the other hand group ‘A’ matches were organized at Dibrugarh from where OILFC and BSF, Jalandhar booked last four berths.

Mohammedan Sporting would definitely go into the ground with favourite tag in tomorrow’s game. In the group stage the side played good soccer and won all their three matches at Mukalmuwa. They are really looking in very good touch. On the other hand BSF had to fight hard and managed to confirm their position in the semi final in the last game.

Meanwhile good contest can be expected in the second semi final as both the teams of the game are nearly equal strength. However OILFC would have little edge over their opponent as Nehru stadium will be their ‘home ground’.

The final of the championship is slated for November 6 under flood light.
