CM Sarbananda Sonowal felicitates shooter Hriday Hazarika

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal felicitated young shooter Hriday Hazarika for his gold winning performance at the ISSF World Championship.
The felicitation function was held at the Shilpagram and Sonowal feted him with a Gamocha, a Sarai, a felicitation and a cheque of Rs. 25 lakh.
Hriday, the young shooter from Assam, recently performed brilliantly in the ISSF World Shooting Championship and won gold medal in the junior section of 10m air rifle event. It was the first occasion when an Assamese shooter clinched a gold medal from a World championship.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Sonowal congratulating the shooter said, “People of Assam is proud of your achievement which will be a source of inspiration to the youth of the state. You have won our hearts. It is just the beginning of your journey and have to go many miles. Try to stay focus and bring more laurels for the country.”
He also assured all possible help and support from the State government in his journey to become a world class shooter at all levels.
The Chief Minister also announced to build a world class shooting range in Assam so that amateur shooters from the state gets more facilities for proper training.
Expressing his feeling Hriday Hazarika, who now stays in Delhi to use better training facilities, expressed his gratitude to his coaches, his parents and the people of Assam for his success.
Apart from Sonowal the function was also attended by Arjuna Awardee Bhogeswar Baruah, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Public Health Minister Rihon Daimary, Hill Areas Development Minister Sum Ronghang, MP Bijaya Chakraborty, Sarat Hazarika and Iva Hazarika-parents of Hriday- and many other dignitaries.
