GUWAHATI: Congratulations poured in for Assam Boxer Lovlina Borgohain after she booked quarter final berth in the women 69 kg in Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his Twitter handle to congratulate the boxer. In his message Chief minister said, "She is Assam's pride for a reason. Congratulations to Lovlina Borgohain for qualifying into the quarter finals."

Sarma's counterpart from Manipur N Biren Singh too praised Lovlina for her magnificent performance on Tuesday. Congratulating Lovlina In his Twitter handle Singh said, "Great performance Lovlina. We look forward to your great performance in the upcoming matches. I am praying for you. The country is expecting a gold from you."

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Bimal Borah also took his twitter handle to congratulate Assam boxer. He wrote, "What a way to sail into the Quarters..Many congratulations."

The secretary General of the Boxing Federation of India Hemanta Kalita was present at the venue when Lovlina took Nadine Apetz in the ring. Interacting with The Sentinel Kalita, who is also the secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Associaiton, said, "Lovlina fought very well in the bout. She kept herself very cool in the ring and tried to collect points as much as possible. What Lovlina impressed me is that she is looking very confident now and focusing for a gold in Tokyo. It's really a very good sign.".
