Silchar: Laya Madduri, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar felicitated young talents of the RSTC (Residential Special Training Centre) at Silchar for winning the recently held U-14 Inter-School Football tournament. They defeated Government Boys Higher Secondary School by 1-0. The victory earned the young boys a place in the prestigious Pilik Choudhury U-14 Inter District Football tournament organised by Sports and Welfare Department Government of Assam at Guwahati from July 26. Mostly they are from either very remote areas or from very poor families.

At a function held at her chamber, Deputy Commissioner felicitated the 16 champion footballers with sports kit bag and congratulated them. Parvez Ahmed Laskar, the caretaker of the centre was also honoured for playing an instrumental role in the successes of the boys. Encouraging the students of the centre, Laya Madduri said that everyone is born with some talent. It is the urge to focus on the skill sets and harnessing the potentialities which make them successful. The students who have excelled in the football competition should focus on their forte and assured that District Administration shall continue to assist them in fulfilling their aspirations. Also, she advised the students to keep their academic pursuits in good stead. Assistant Commissioner Abhilash Barnwal, DPO Papri Bhattacharjee also attended the felicitation ceremony.
