District level chess competition held in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A district-level chess competition was held among the students under 9, 13 and 15 age groups on Saturday in Lakhimpur. The competition was organized by Amalprabha Sowarani Akankhya Sanskritik Kala Kendra in its office premises located in North Lakhimpur town in association with Lakhimpur Chess Academy. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by social activist Rajesh Malpani and it was inaugurated by Lakhimpur PGT College principal Rukma Gohain Baruah. The competitions were held under the management of Jitumoni Neog, Pankaj Borah, Bijoya Neog and Hiranya Kaman.

The winners of the competition are: under 9 age group: First Jiaul Hussain, Second Kundal Krishna Saikia, Third Turjyarag Bhuyan. Under 13: First Rajdeep Gohain, Second Anurom Hazarika and Third Anushka Bharadwaj. Under 15: First Antariksha Gohain Baruah, Second Bikash Ranjan Sarmah and Third Abhigyan Dutta.

On the other hand, Bornil Akash Nath won the accolade as the best player of the event, informed Munindra Neog, the co-ordinator of Amalprabha Sowarani Akankhya Sanskritik Kala Kendra.
