District level sports event begins in Arunachal

Itanagar: The third edition of Hangpan Dada memorial football and volley tournament for men and women got underway at Govt H S School Ground at Aalo in West Siang district on Thursday.

Four teams representing Aalo East, Aalo West, Liromoba and Mechuka constituencies are in the fray, an official release informed.

The inaugural match was played in between Aalo West and Liromoba.

Attending the inaugural ceremony District Information and Public Relation Officer (DIPRO) Gijum Tali said that motto of organising the tournament is to hunt young talented sportspersons and exhorted the players to take up tournament in true sportsmanship spirit.

District sports officer Tumto Loyi outlined the broad objectives and efforts made to organise the tournament at blocks and subdivision levels.

The men and women final for football and volleyball will be played on December 29, the release added.
