District level Yoga Championship held in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The 1st district level Yoga Championship competition was held in Lakhimpur on Saturday. The competition was organized by 'Yogoday', an organization working for creating an enhanced environment in order to practice yoga, at the indoor stadium of Madhavdev University located at Narayanpur. Madhavdev University vice chancellor, Dr. Dibakar Chandra Deka inaugurated the competition by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Yogoday president-cum-Madhabdev University academic register Khirapad Dutta delivered the welcome address in the inaugural function held under the management of Sanjib Basumatari. Madhavdev University register Sarat Hazarika, internationally acclaimed youth shooter Hriday Hazarika, prominent yoga practitioner Dr. RN Saikia took part in the inaugural function. The competition was held in twelve events among the participants from 8 years to 45 years. In addition to these events, artistic yoga competition was also organized. The competition events were held under the management of national level yoga referee Azad Hazarika, Yoga Samrat Bedakanta Mahanta, Nabalakhi Gogoi, Tribeni Gogoi, Rituraj Baruah, Krishna Saikia, State level yoga referee Bhaskar Gogoi, Dipamoni Buragohain Gogoi and Raktim Deka. Over one hundred participants from different parts of the district took part in the competition. Prize distribution ceremony of the competition commenced with Khirapad Dutta in the chair under the management of Nabalakhi Gogoi. The award winner participants have achieved qualification for joining in the State level Yoga Championship to be held in Guwahati.
