ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra on Tuesday urged Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to facilitate special training for the cricketers of the state.

Union Minister of State (Independent) for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju accompanied by MP Dilip Saikia and honorary secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah, called on the governor at Raj Bhavan here. Chief Minister Pema Khandu was also present in the meeting.

The governor requested the minister and the BCCI official to provide platforms for exposure and honing of the skills of the Arunachali youths so that they can find a place in national level cricket events on their own merit, a Raj Bhawan release informed.

Dr Mishra reiterated that the people of the state immensely love team games and cricket is a cherished sport for the people. "From children playing it in the streets to the elder having the fun of it at their home, cricket has grown widely on our people in the state," the governor added.

Rijiju, however, assured to work on it.
