GUWAHATI: The first edition of the Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial State Level Online School Level Chess Championship successfully concluded on Wednesday. Held for the first time in the memory of noted litterateur and lyricist late Kailash Nath Sarma, the Best Player award went to Barnil Kumar Das of St. Paul English Medium School, Barpeta while Delhi Public School, Khanapara bagged the Best School award.

More than 200 players from different parts of the state participated in the tournament which was organized by Snehabandhan. The competition was held in ten categories. Late Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial Trust and Snehabandhan lauded every participants along with the winners. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several top level chess players of the state while Riniki Bhuyan Sarma was present on behalf of Kailash Nath Sarma Trust.

The Kailash Nath Memorial Trust and Snehabandhan has been steadfastly working for the spiritual development of children and teens since last several years. In the days ahead, both institutions will carry forward its work for the mental upliftment of the students by organizing various competitions, workshops and training sessions, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma said. This is stated in a press release on behalf of Kailash Nath Memorial Trust by Nandan Pratim Sarma Bordoloi.
