GUWAHATI: Former footballer Dr Sarat Chandra Dutta died in the city today. The end came in a city nursing home this morning.

Dutta, a classy footballer in his days, represented Assam in several occasions. He was also the member of the State team which finished third in the Santosh Trophy in 1960.

However being a doctor he dedicated his post football life to serve the people of the State. Dutta was a dedicated social worker. He was associated with several organizations including Lions club, All Assam Sports Pensioners' Association and India Club.
