Guwahati City hosts first night marathon with grand success

GUWAHATI: The Great Guwahati Marathon 2020, organized by Asmakam Foundation, held in the city today. It was the first occasion when the city hosted a marathon competition at night.

The marathon was flagged off at the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara jointly by State Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna , DGP of Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and Arjuna awardee Bhogeswar Baruah. The function was also attended by Bollywood star Yami Gautam. Several top level athletes from India and abroad participated in the meet.

The event has been categorised into a 42.2 km run, a half marathon of 21.1km, a 10km run and a 5km run (under 18). There was also a 3km walkathon.
