ICC World Cup Warm-Ups Teams to arrive Guwahati from today
Guwahati will host four warm-up matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup and the first one is scheduled to be held on September 29 between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
GUWAHATI: ACA Stadium, Barsapara is ready to welcome the visiting teams for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up matches. The visiting teams will start to arrive in the city from Wednesday.
Guwahati will host four warm-up matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup and the first one is scheduled to be held on September 29 between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The other teams who will play their warm-up matches in Guwahati are India, England and Afghanistan.
Among the five participating teams Sri Lanka will reach Guwahati on Wednesday morning as the first team. Bangladesh too will land Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
Host India, who will play their last match of the ODI Series against Australia tomorrow, will touch down Guwahati on Thursday along with England. Afghanistan, Scheduled to play their first warm-up tie against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram on September 29, will arrive on September 30.
The practice sessions of the teams are arranged in two venues- ACA Stadium, Barsapara and Amingaon ground. Amingaon ground is likely to host most of the net sessions as ACA stadium will be the venue of all four matches.
Meanwhile, a good turn-out is expected in the high voltage match between India and England which is scheduled to be held at the ACA Stadium on September 30. Sources of Assam Cricket Association informed that more than 50 percent tickets of the game are already sold out.
Schedule of warm up matches in Guwahati: Sept 29- Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka. September 30- India vs England. October 2- England vs Bangladesh. October 3- Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan.
