GUWAHATI: The third edition of Khelo India will take off with a glitzy opening ceremony here on Friday at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium at 6 pm. The organizing committee is doing everything to make the opening ceremony a memorable one for the participants as well as the spectators.
The inaugural function, which will witness nearly 400 cast members, is divided into two segments. The first 30 minutes will witness a colorful march past with the participating athletes along with torch relay, felicitation of guests, etc. The next one hour is reserved only for entertainment.
Talking to The Sentinel the CEO of third Khelo India Games Avinash Joshi said, “The inaugural function has been chalked out in such a way that it will leave a lasting impact among the audience.”
Although Joshi refused to speak details on the opening ceremony, yet he admitted that there would be a special segment on Assam, the hosts of the Games. “A special 10-minute act has been devised to celebrate the natural beauty and cultural wealth of Assam, along with heroes of the state,” said the CEO.
He added: “A couple of local and Bollywood artistes will also perform in the opening function. The other attraction will be the laser show.”
Meanwhile, several former and present stars of the State are likely to be the part of the torch relay. The list included the likes of Hima Das, Gilbertson Sangma, Tayabun Nessa, Monalisa Barua Mehta and others.
The security officials would be deployed at all venues to avoid any untoward incidents. Spectators, who will witness opening and closing ceremony along with different sporting events, would be allowed to bring only mobile phone and wallet inside the stadium.
