India, Oman Football Team Arrive Guwahati For World Cup qualifier

GUWAHATI: India and Oman football team will arrive in Guwahati tomorrow to participate in the World Cup qualifier which is scheduled to be held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on September 5. The match will kick off at 7-30 PM.

Both Oman and India will arrive by separate flight. Oman team is scheduled to land around 5-30 in the evening while Indian team will arrive at 8-30 PM. They will also stay in separate hotels.

In the qualifying round India are placed in group ‘E’ along with Qatar, Oman, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. India will next face Qatar in an away game which will be held on September 10.

Commenting on the preparation the secretary of the Assam Football Association Hemendra Nath Brahma said, “It is on right track. We are trying our best to arrange the game in best possible way. A few key officials of the All India Football Federation, including Competition Director Anil Kamat, already arrived in the city to supervise match related work.”

Assam Football Association is happy with the progress of match day tickets sale. The sale of tickets-priced Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 200- kicked off through on line nearly one week back. Brahma added: “We have decided to sale around 15,000 tickets for this match. Till date around 6400 tickets, most of which are Rs 200, already sold. We are optimistic that the sale of tickets will receive boost further after the arrival of teams tomorrow.”

The AFA secretary also said that from September three they will open a ticket counter at the Sarusajai Sports complex and spectators would be able to purchase match tickets from that counter too.

Meanwhile, Iranian referee Mooud Bonyadifar will officiate the game between Oman and India on September 5. He will be assisted by his countrymen Saeid Alinezhadian and Ali Mirzabeigi in this match. Hassan Akrami will be fourth official. The 33-year-old Iranian referee has been on the international list since 2013.
