Indian Army in collaboration with Oil India Ltd organizes soccer meet at Digboi

TINSUKIA: With the theme ‘Say No to Drugs, Yes to Football - 1000 Goals against Drugs’ the Indian Army in collaboration with Oil India Ltd organized a series of football tournaments at Digboi from January 27 to February 15. A total of 16 teams from areas of Kakopathar, Makum, Digboi, Pengri, Margherita and Tipong battled it out for the coveted Tinsukia Cup. The final was played between Digboi FC and Margherita TSC, while Digboi FC lifted the cup.

It gelled with the ‘Khelo India’ initiative taken up by the Government of India and provided an opportunity to budding talents to showcase their skills and wean them away from the Drug menace.

The thrilling final match was witnessed by several locals from the area. Major General Sanjeev Chauhan, YSM, GOC DAO Division as Guest of Honour felicitated the players and handed over the trophy to the winning team.
