Inter-Institution Cricket Tournament: AG Assam win Inter Institution title

GUWAHATI: AG Assam lifted ACA Inter-Institution Cricket Tournament title defeating NF Railway by 35 runs in the final held at the ACA Stadium here today.

Invited to bat AG, Assam bowled out 103 in 19.2 overs. Subrajit Sahoo played a vital role, scoring 32 runs off 31 balls, while Imtiez Hussain contributed 15 runs off 14 balls. Ranjeet Mali-led the bowling attack for NF Railway, claiming impressive figures of 3/15. Arup Das, Abhilash Gogoi, and Tushar Saha each took two wickets, conceding 12, 17 and 28 runs respectively.

Chasing a target of 104 runs, NF Railway faced a daunting challenge from AG, Assam’s disciplined bowling attack and finally they bowled out for just 68 runs in 18.1 overs. Karan Sharma scored 20 runs off 11 balls and Sarupam Purakayastha contributed 15 facing 22 balls. Tejinder Singh-led AG, Assam’s bowling unit with exceptional figures of 3/3. Mrinmoy Dutta, Prasanta Sonowal and Samik Das supported him well, each claiming two wickets. Tejinder later adjudged the man of the final award.

In the prize distribution ceremony, the Apex Council Members of the ACA – President Taranga Gogoi, Secretary Tridib Konwar, Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh, Treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa and Member Anupam Deka – were present and they also handed over the trophies.
