GUWAHATI: Promising cricketer Riyan Parag termed his inclusion in the IPL as a big stride in his career.

Last night Riyan was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL auction which was held in Jaipur. He was sold at a base price Rs 20 lakh.

Talking to The Sentinel on his inclusion in Rajathan Royals, Riyan today said, “It’s really a great opportunity for me. The competition would give me a good platform, and I will try to use it in the best possible way to build my career.”

The U-19 World Cup winning squad member is, however, now out of cricket because of injury. He has already missed a couple of Ranji Trophy ties and is almost certain to miss the next one also against Goa which will be held in Guwahati from December 22.

Sharing his views on the preparations of IPL Riyan said, “At present I am focusing only on Ranji Trophy. Thereafter, we will play the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament, and I will use that tournament as the preparation for IPL.” It may be mentioned here that Riyan will be the second cricketer from Assam who will feature in an IPL team. Earlier pacer Abu Nechim Ahmed turned up for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
