GUWAHATI: He was with Sunrisers Hyderabad team during the entire IPL 2020 held in Dubai. In a conversation with The Sentinel Muktar Hussain, one of the most promising pacer of the state, who joined Sunrisers Hyderabad as a net bowler, said that the trip helped him a lot to improve his skill. Here is the excerpt

The Sentinel (TS): Share your experience during your stay with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Muktar: It's really very nice. I got the opportunity to meet with several top class cricketers of the world and learn from them. I admit, this is a very rare opportunity for young cricketers like us and I tried my best to develop my skill during my stay with the team.

TS: What have you learnt from this tour?

Muktar: Plenty. I have developed my yorker and slow delivery which are very crucial weapons in limited over's cricket. My swing too has improved.

TS: Share the atmosphere in net session of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Muktar: It's almost the same as we do during our State team's preparation. The only difference is the presence of several current and former top cricketers in the net. Whenever there is any problem they come forward and never hesitate to give proper tips to us which really help to rectify the error quickly.

TS: You watched several top batsmen like David Warner, Kane Willamson to bat from very close. What about their specialty...

Muktar: I have bowled Willamson in the net but didn't get the opportunity to bowl against David Warner. Both are terrific batsmen and never think too much on opponent bowling. They have full faith in their own ability and prefer to play on their strength. Both are also very good human beings and never treat us just like net bowlers. Whenever they got time, like at the time of breakfast and others, they tried to stay with us and gave tips on different aspects.

TS: Two former greats- Muttiah Muralidharan and VVS Laxman- were the bowling coach and mentor of the team. Any opportunity to work or speak with them on your skill development !

Muktar: Yes. VVS Laxman sir is a very friendly person. When he learnt that I am from Assam he enquired about some of our former cricketers with whom he earlier played. In the net session also he stood close to us and from time to time gave different tips like when to bowl which type of ball and how to read the batsman etc. Muralidharan sir too was equally supportive. I also want to take the name of Bhubaneeswar Kumar who during the early part of the tour gave me several important tips on pace bowling.

TS: What about your plan for the coming season...

Muktar: I want to represent my country and also want to play in the IPL. It is only possible if I perform well for my team in the coming season and you can say it is my lone target right now.
