Majuli Football Club win 5th Subansiri Cup Football Tournament Title

LAKHIMPUR: The 5th Subansiri Cup Football Tournament organized at the Ghunasuti High School playground in Lakhimpur district under the auspices of Jonki Club from December 29 last year concluded with grand success. The final match of the tournament, which was sponsored by NHPC Limited, was held between Odalguri Football Club and Majuli Football club on Sunday. Majuli Football Club won the title of the tournament by defeating Odalguri Football Club by a margin of 4-3 goals. As a result of it, Majuli Football Club bagged the title toffee along with the prize money of Rs. 40,000 while Odalguri Football Club was given away the runner-up toffee along with prize money of Rs. 30,000. Utpal Mili, the president of the Jonki Club informed that Karlos Atedva of Odalguri Football Club appeared as the best player of the tournament while Nansu Doley of Majuli Football Club secured the second best player title. Prize money amounts of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 were respectively conferred to the best and second best players of the tournament.

Chief Manager of NHPC Limited, Pankaj Gupata was present in the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament along with a galaxy of prominent personalities. Attending the event, Pankaj Gupta gave words to extend due sponsorship and co-operation with regard to organizing the tournament every year.
