Miao Cyclothon marks the Gandhi Jayanti celebration in Changlang district

BORDUMSA: Joining the nation in the celebration of the 151 birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the denizens of Miao in Changlang district in eastern Arunachal observed the significant day in an inspiring way.

Coinciding the event, an open mega Miao Cyclothon 2020 was organized here today wherein around 56 cyclists under no age -parameter category had enthusiastically participated. The cyclists clad in T-shirts provided by the organizers finally scaled a distance of 8 kms and thus helped spreading a positive waves among the mass on the benefits of cycling beside exhibiting a beautiful scenic topography of Miao.

The event was organized by Dapha Valley Tours & Travels in collaboration with SEED, a local NGO and Cycling Federation of Arunachal Pradesh.

Kamlung Mossang the MLA & UD Minister of Pema Khandu government who not only flagged off the Cyclothon event but also became a cyclist amidst the participants. He encouraged the participants and general people to take active part in such meaningful and gainful activities that keep is mentally ,physically and emotionally fit.

Minom Pertin a naturalist who has also been the Dy Director of the SEED hen asked during an interaction said "we are trying to promote an eco - friendly life style through cycling. We are also trying to promote adventure tourism in the region through such event. Miao is a perfect place for cycling with world acclaimed Namdapha National Park just nearby, covered with greeneries and scenic beauty. It also has the much needed terrain with hills and slopes making it an ideal place for cycling. Dapha Valley Tours & Travels is committed to keep organizing such events in the days to come".

Cycling is healthy, fun and a low - impact form of exercise for all ages. It is easy to fit into daily routine by riding to the shops, park, school or work. Many officers, public leaders and students participated in the event.
