National Sports Day celebrated in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: In commemoration with the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, legendary hockey exponent of India, National Sports Day (NSD), organized by Sri Sri Aniruddhadev Sports University, was celebrated on Saturday at DRDA auditorium. The meeting held on the occasion, was graced by the vice-chancellor of Sports University, Prof. J.P. Verma, D. C, Pallav Gopal Jha, former National Football player, Tosen Borah, CEO of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, Dipu Ranjan Markary , CEO, District Zila Parishad, Diganta Saikia , DSO, Dhrubajyoti Deka and Registrar of Sports University cum District Development Commissioner, Sanjay Dutta.

Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sri Aniruddha Dev Sports University Prof. J.P. Verma while delivering his welcome address highlighted the ongoing construction works of the university and other development works as initiated by the authority. Addressing the meeting as chief guest, D.C Jha disclosed that the District has a golden future in sports and hence in order to explore budding sports talents of the district, the state government had initiated several projects in the district for infrastructural development of sports .

The meeting also felicitated former National footballer,Tosen Bora, and four others sportsmen-- Agniv Bhaskar Gohain, Isharani Baruah, Imdad Hussain and Dharitri Sonowal for their achievement in International and Khelo India competitions.
