GUWAHATI: New look Nehru Stadium is ready to host the Syed Mushtaq Ali Cricket Trophy matches which will kick off in the city on November 4. Guwahati will host the matches of Elite Group 'B' which included teams like Mumbai, Karnataka, Baroda, Bengal, Chhatishgarh and Services.

Assam Cricket Association will use two venues for the championship. ACA Stadium, Barsapara is the other venue of the meet.

Cricket was earlier removed from the Nehru stadium which hosted several international matches. However the game returned to the stadium once again thanks to an initiative from the Assam Cricket Association.

As per the schedule there would be three matches every day and two of them would be held at the ACA stadium. The match at the Nehru stadium would be held in the noon.

Apart from preparing the ground and laying down new wickets the Assam Cricket Association has added a couple of extra facilities to the Nehru stadium which are essential for present day cricket. A digital scoreboard is also likely to be installed at the venue during the time of competition.

Meanwhile cricketers of different teams, who are undergoing mandatory five-day quarantine after their arrival in the city, will start their on field activities from Tuesday. However keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation the BCCI has decided not to allow crowed in stadiums during practice and match day.
