GUWAHATI: Seasoned campaigner Tauhid Ali Talukdar of Pratidin Group produced one of the most devastating spells of Media Cricket history on Friday at Judges’ Field. After cracking 44 runs off 20 balls, the all-rounder claimed 7 wickets for 25 runs in his four-over spell including a hat-trick to wrep-up NK TV’s innings at just 82 in 14.1 overs and give his team 94-run win during the 4th North East Media Cricket Champions Trophy.

Batting first, defending champion Pratidin managed 176 runs in allotted 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Apart from Tauhid, Wasim Ahmed added 40 runs from 26 balls and Jagjit Singh contributed 32. Jitumoni Medhi claimed 4 wickets for 23 while Binoy Kalita grabbed two wickets.

Earlier, Prag News beat debutant NB News by 9 wickets. Batting first, NB News scored 83 runs in stipulated 10 overs (over reduced due to wet outfield). Opener Nabajyoti Talukdar struck a blistering knock of 67 runs from 35 balls with 7 sixes. Prag News reached the target in 6.5 overs losing one wicket. Mriganka Sarma scored 46 off 20 balls while Amit Das remained unbeaten at 35 runs. Nabajyoti was adjudged as the Man of the Match.

Shillong Press Club will face Prag News while Diphu Press Club will lock horn with DD Assam on Saturday.
