Sansad Cup soccer meet kicks off

LAKHIMPUR: State Finance and Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmah on Monday inaugurated the Sansand Cup Prize Money Football tournament, organized by Bahpati Anchalik Sports Association at its playground at Bahpati. MP Pradan Baruah was also present in the inaugural event. The inaugural match of the tournament was held between Bahpati Nath Gaon Football Club and Ranganadi Football Club.

Bahpati Nath Gaon Football Club beat its opponent by 1-0 and proceeded to the next round. Anil Nath scored the sole goal of the match on behalf of his team at second half. A total of Rs. 60,000 will be rewarded to the champion and runner-up team of the tournament in which twenty football teams registered their names to participate, informed the organizers.
