Silchar win U-16 RG Baruah Inter-District Cricket Tournament title

GUWAHATI: Silchar lifted the U-16 RG Baruah Inter-District Cricket Tournament defeating Guwahati by virtue of 1st innings lead in the final at Khirod Baruah Stadium, Morigaon on Thursday.

After taking 159 runs first innings lead, Silchar managed 244 in 45.1 overs losing 7 wickets at stumps of second and final day of the match. Abhay Deb, Prashant Kumar, and Biki Roy scored half-centuries. Diwiz Pathak claimed 4 wickets for 40.

Biki Roy was adjusted as the best player of the match award while Pulkit Jain of Charaideo got the player of the tournament award trophy. Best batsman and Best bowler awards went to Abhay Deb and Vivek Yadav (Silchar).

In the closing ceremony the prizes were distributed by Assam Cricket Association’s Vice President Porikshit Dutta, Director of State Cricket Academy Ganesh Dutta Sut, Ranji player Abu Nechim Ahmed, Member of Junior Selection Committee Deep Bora and General Secretary of Morigaon Sports Association Jitu Bordoloi.
