GUWAHATI: With an aim to produce more quality pitches across the State the Assam Cricket Association recently decided to bring special soil from outside the State.

The first consignment has arrived today and it would be used to prepare pitches at Amingaon, the new domestic venues of the Assam Cricket Association.

Quality cricket pitches need special types of soil which is not available in the State and earlier on several occasions the point was raised by the local curators. This time the Assam Cricket Association has decided to take the matter seriously and bring special soil from Balangir, Odisha. It may be mentioned here that same soil is used to prepare most of the international pitches of the country.

Assam Cricket Association recently ordered four trucks of soil from Balangir and the consignment arrived today. The officials of the association informed the media that once the pitch is ready the local cricketer will get the opportunity to play on quality wickets and it will bring major change in their performance.

Meanwhile the secretary and the joint secretary of Assam Cricket Association Devajit Saikia and Kamakhya Saikia today inspected the progress of work at Amingaon.The association recently started the development of ground and construction of a new cricket pavilion in that venue.
