GUWAHATI: Football fraternity today condoled the death of former national footballer Durlov Gogoi, an employee of Oil India Limited, who died at the blaze in Baghjan, Tinsukia yesterday. Durlov was part of the firefighter team who are engaged to douse the flame at Baghjan.
The bodies of Durlov and another firefighter Tileswar Gohain was recovered on Wednesday at Baghjan. Both of them were missing since Tuesday after a massive fire broke out at the Baghjan production well of Oil India Limited.
Durlov, who turned out for Assam in both junior and senior State teams, was a goalkeeper. Durlov's former coach Bidhan Das recalling his memories said: "He played under my coaching several times. Durlov was a very good and dependable goalkeeper. It's a big loss for us."
The newly formed Association of Assam Football coaches also condoled the death of Durlov. In a release, the secretary Montu Boro said that it's a great loss for State football.
