GUWAHATI: Former first class cricketer from Assam Subhadeep Ghosh has been appointed as the fielding coach of the Indian women team for the upcoming tour of Australia. India will play three ODIs, one pink ball Test and three T20Is during the six-week tour. Although the squad for the forthcoming series is yet to be announced, the name of the support staff is finalized. A former Railways and Assam player, Ghosh already entered the ongoing pre-tour camp in Bengaluru with Indian team's probables.

Talking to The Sentinel over telephone from Bengaluru Ghosh, earlier also accompanied the Indian team as fielding coach on multiple occasions, said, "The fitness level of our women cricketers is now very good and it also helps to improve our fielding."

The Australia tour is another important series for India to progress in their preparation for the ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in New Zealand in early 2022. This series will be a challenge for the Indian women as they will be dealing with a pink ball in the Test at Perth.

Team India will leave on August 29 and will undergo a14-day quarantine on its arrival in Australia.

The schedule: 1st ODI – September 19 (Sydney), 2nd ODI – September 22 (Melbourne), 3rd ODI – September 24 (Melbourne). Test (Day-night) – September 30 to October 3 (Perth). 1st T20I – October 7 (Sydney), 2nd T20I – October 9 (Sydney), 3rd T20I – October 11 (Sydney).
