ITANAGAR: Team from National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) successfully carried out Winter Alpine Trekking, Paragliding, Cycling and Scuba Diving during multidimensional expedition held in general area France in November.

The team led by Director NIMAS, Col Sarfraz Singh comprised of 12 persons (8xArmy & 4x civilians from Arunachal ) with expertise in respective fields achieved a unique milestone by doing over 250 Kms of winter alpine trekking in the Alps (including 165 kms of Tour De Mont Blanc Trek in France, Italy and Switzerland ), followed by multiple Paragliding launches from Alps mountains to its valley floor , thereafter cycling 1000 kms from Mont Blanc region to English Channel near Dunkirik via Switzerland- Belgium, stated a release.

The expedition finally culminated in the French Riviera with NIMAS scuba team doing multiple deep dives in the Mediterranean Sea. .It was for the first time that a Indian team carried out four diverse specialised adventure activities in the field of land, air and aqua during an expedition in France, Europe. The expedition was flagged off on 27th last by Ajay Bhatt, MoS, and Defence in New Delhi. The expedition was in line with the government theme Azadi ka Amrut Mohatsav, celebrating India's 75 years of Independence.
