GUWAHATI: Sunrise Club defeated FC Green Valley by 2-1 in the GSA RG Baruah Super Division Football League at the Nehru stadium here today. The first half of the game ended 1-1.

Sunrise, who are now at the second spot in the points table, took the lead in the 22nd minute through Ajaruddin Shah. The goal however didn't dampen the spirit of Green Valley and they played good attacking football and finally successful to got the equaliser through penalty which was converted to goal by Lalthangliana in the added time of the first half. The decision of penalty sparked a controversy as the players and officials of Sunrise felt the decision was not right and the game was stopped for a while before Sunrise agreed to continue the game.

The last 45 minutes of the game was well contested and both the teams created several chances. Sunrise converted one through Shahjahan in the 78 minute which also ensured three points for the team.

It was the fifth victory for Sunrise and they collected 18 points from their 10 outings. FC Green Valley suffered their fifth defeats in the league and they are now at the 5th place with 11 points.
