T20I: India & Sri Lanka Teams to arrive on January 2 in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: It will be an extended new year’s celebration for cricket fans in Guwahati as both Sri Lanka and India will arrive in the city on January 2 to play the first T20I tie. The match is scheduled to be held at the ACA stadium, Barsapara on January 5.
The secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Devajit Saikia today informed the media that Sri Lanka team will fly in the city by a chartered flight while Indian team will assemble in Guwahati.
“As the match will be series opener so Indian players will travel to Guwahati from their respective homes and assemble here,” said Saikia. Both the teams will check in at Radisson Blue and begin their first practice session on January 3.
Meanwhile the sale of tickets for the game is going on via online. Till date nearly 24 thousand tickets are sold.
It will be the second time that Guwahati will host T20I match. Earlier in the first game India faced Australia and the visitors won the tie by eight wickets.
